As a REALTOR®, you strive to make the buying and selling process a smooth one for your clients. A comprehensive home inspection is part of that process. Here are some tips on how you can make the inspection a good experience for everyone involved.
As the seller’s agent:
- Have the house ready for the inspector – make sure there is access to the attic, crawl space and electrical panel.
- Try to get the seller out of the house for the inspection. The seller can be a real detriment to the inspection process.
As the buyer’s agent:
- Give your buyers multiple home inspector names to choose from.
- Remember that the inspector works for the buyer, not for the agent.
- Communicate with the home inspector, don’t throw them under the bus when a problem arises.
- A good inspector will prep the buyer, reminding them that every problem has a solution.
