We received a report about suspicious phone calls to agents from someone claiming to be a prospective buyer interested in seeing luxury properties. In one instance, the agent felt uneasy about the evasive answers received while vetting the buyer, so the agent commented that they would bring another agent along to help with the showing. The buyer hung up. When the agent tried calling the buyer back, they would not answer. Please be aware of the situation and keep safety top-of-mind when interacting with clients either in-person or over the phone.

8.19.20 Update: We have received additional reports about suspicious phone calls to agents from someone claiming to be an out-of-state buyer interested in seeing luxury properties. In the latest instance, the buyer provided an abundance of personal details to the agent including their height, age, marital status, names of relatives, previous job experience, etc. in an attempt to seem legitimate. However, once this agent began asking follow-up questions, the buyer refused to answer and became flustered.
