“One of our most important advocacy components is interviewing and getting to know the candidates that will make crucial decisions affecting cities in Ada, and Elmore Counties for years to come,” said Boise Regional REALTORS® 2023 President Debbi Myers. “Candidates must demonstrate a deep knowledge and understanding of housing, growth and transportation issues important to REALTORS® and property owners. We feel the candidates we’re endorsing meet those qualifications and understand the importance of private property rights, managing growth, and the crucial role REALTORS® play in the local economy and community.”
“You may notice that there is no endorsement for the Boise Mayoral race. After interviewing the top candidates for this position, our committee had a long discussion about our approach to this race. Ultimately, our committee believes it important to begin 2024 with a fresh start for whomever is to be elected mayor of Boise and the best way to achieve that is to not provide an endorsement in this race. Separately, you will notice there are no endorsements for Kuna. The reason for that is either candidates declined to participate, or they did not respond to requests,” said BRR Government Affairs Director Cameron Kinzer.
BRR’s Public Policy Committee, comprised of volunteer members of the association, invites all the candidates in the cities that cover our local jurisdiction of Ada, and Elmore Counties to fill out a questionnaire focused on private property rights and growth-related issues. Based on the responses in the questionnaires and interviews, the committee made endorsement recommendations to the BRR Board of Directors for final review and approval.
“We encourage members of Boise Regional REALTORS®, as well as residents across Ada, Elmore to get out and vote in support these candidates who’ve received the endorsement of local REALTORS® on election day, Tuesday, November 7, 2023. You can also request and absentee ballot and vote early in person. For more information on absentee requests and early voting locations check with your county clerk’s office.,” said Kinzer.
