Members of Boise Regional REALTORS® (BRR) recently celebrated the group’s 100th anniversary.
“When preparing for our centennial, it was inspiring to read story after story of the positive impact that REALTORS® have had on the region and the industry,” said Michelle Bailey, 2020 President of BRR.
The association started in 1920 with just 43 members and focused mostly on the city of Boise. 100 years later, BRR has grown to more than 5,000 members throughout Ada, Elmore, and Gem counties and beyond, making it the largest local REALTOR® association in the state of Idaho.
Although the membership and jurisdiction has expanded, BRR Chief Executive Officer Breanna Vanstrom noted that, “the association’s activities have always centered around advocacy, education, and networking amongst its members, ensuring REALTORS® have the resources required to serve property owners and those seeking to buy and sell real estate.”
REALTORS® have been the local experts in buying and selling real estate since 1920, but how they help clients find properties has changed over the years. While they used to rely solely on newspaper classified ads, today, members have access to the most complete and up-to-date information about homes for sale, through the local multiple listing service, Intermountain MLS (IMLS). Through the IMLS, REALTORS® can conduct advanced searches to quickly identify properties that suit clients’ needs, as well as provide tax information, property history, pricing analysis, and more.
This spirit of service extends well beyond transaction. In 1995, the REALTORS® Community Foundation was founded and through it, members have given back more than $1.7 million to various non-profits, charities, and public projects. In 2020, the Foundation is focused on raising funds and providing assistance to four groups: CATCH, Inc., Jesse Tree, Life’s Kitchen, and the Education Foundation of the West Ada School District.
“We look forward to continuing this rich tradition of helping clients achieve their real estate goals, advocating on behalf of private property and homeownership rights, and giving back to the communities where we live and work,” said Bailey.
