This award is presented annually to recognize one REALTOR® for his or her commitment to their community through volunteerism, service, or other contributions. To be considered for this award, BRR members must be nominated by their peers and selected by the Awards Committee — which is an impartial panel made up of past presidents and past winners of other BRR awards.
The Awards Committee reviews all nominations, taking into consideration each nominee’s involvement in the community and participation in local, state, and national associations. The Committee may also refer to association and MLS records to consider the nominee’s industry spirit and business accomplishments, including but not limited to past awards received; participation in the BRR Honor Society; responsiveness to local, state, and national Calls-to-Action; investments made to the REALTORS® Political Action Committee (RPAC) or BRR’s Foundation; and/or, annual production. There are no minimum levels of participation, investments, sales, etc., required to be eligible.
Preference will be given to nominees currently or formerly involved with the REALTORS® Community Foundation and/or the REALTORS® Outreach Committee (ROC), however, involvement in either group is not required to be eligible.
The winner of BRR’s Good Neighbor Award will also be submitted to NAR and IR’s Good Neighbor Awards program.
Nominee Eligibility
- REALTORS® who are members of BRR (including secondary members) with membership in good standing at the time of nomination, selection, and when the award is presented, are eligible.
- The previous year’s nominees may be nominated again if the person who nominated them previously would like to re-nominate them a second year. (BRR staff to manage these nominations.)
- Previous Good Neighbor (or Darlene Manning Humanitarian) award recipients are not eligible; visit boirealtors.com/award-winners for reference. Members of the current Awards Committee are not eligible.
- Members cited for an ethics violation (handled by Idaho REALTORS®) or a license law violation (handled by IREC) within the past two (2) years may be ineligible. This would be based on confirmation from Idaho REALTORS® or IREC. (Details of any pending cases are not disclosed to BRR staff or the Awards committee.)
Nomination and Selection Process
- BRR members (REALTORS® and affiliates) in good standing may nominate eligible members.
- Nominations may only be completed online.
- Nominations must be received by BRR by October 31. Nominations received after this will not be considered. Incomplete nominations will not be considered.
- Awards Committee members and BRR staff will verify eligibility of all nominees and compare information against association, MLS, and IREC records, where applicable.
- The Awards Committee will select the winner from the group of nominees during a closed committee meeting prior to the Leadership Installation event.
- Once eligibility has been verified, BRR may notify this individual that they have been nominated. Prior to the announcement, the Awards Committee or BRR staff may notify this individual’s broker, or another representative, to ensure the winner will be present when the award is announced but will require the broker or representative to keep this information confidential until the announcement.
